The live nativity scene of Compignano
Since 2006 every Christmas the streets of this medieval town have been enlivened by an itinerary that reenacts ancient crafts, with tableaux vivants set up in places specifically reopened for this occasion and more than one hundred figures who, dressed in period costumes, will reenact the ancient crafts. Weavers, blacksmiths, cobblers, knife grinders, carpenters, cheese makers, tanners, and laundresses in an event that, besides having become an important tourist attraction, is also a chance for the community to get together. Organized by the residents of the town and by the Circolo ANSPI San Cristoforo, the living nativity begins on the evening of December 24 and continues until Epiphany with reenactments and concerts.
